Ever since I was a little girl I have been creating imaginary spaces for myself, my family and my friends. I learned to enjoy all areas of art including music, cooking and baking, sewing, woodworking, and ceramics. If I needed something I just made it. I began painting on my own walls as a way to get my creative energy out. Walls were the best canvas. They were big and blank, ready to be whatever I wanted them to be. My parents supported me even when my mess making became, at times, unlivable. They critiqued me as I asked and taught me to be true to myself and my work. They sent me to several art classes which sparked another passion of mine; learning and talking about art and art history.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
"I want to be an artist."
Education has always played a big part in my life. Not only did I love earning my degree in art, I also worked as a teaching assistant for several years. Before moving to North Carolina I was working at a child care center in Manhattan as an administrator. I loved infusing my daily office duties with my creative work. It happened naturally and being surrounded by the sounds of children learning and playing was so comforting to me. There is nothing more inspiring than hearing a child express their ideas in their own words.
Recently, my husband and I decided to make a move to Wilmington, North Carolina, where my parents live and work (see LINKS). We are very excited to begin a new life here. Everyone has been wonderfully friendly and helpful.
